The Bible is composed of two major sections, the old testament and the new testament. The old testament was written by Jewish patriarchs before the birth of Jesus. The new testament was written by disciples of Jesus Christ, who witnessed his life on earth and the power of his life after he rose from the grave. What makes the bible different from any other book? The apostle Paul said "All scripture is God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16a NIV). The apostle Peter said "Men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:21b NIV). |
And Jesus said "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4 NIV). God spoke through the authors of the Bible. The Bible is the inspired word of God almighty. Every word of the Bible is true (John 17:17). Every prophesy in the Bible will come true (Matthew 5:18). What an awesome thing God's own words are! Only a fool would live in ignorance of what God has to say. God's word, the Bible, is useful for every situation we encounter in life (2 Timothy 3:16-17). |
It cuts right to the truth of whatever situation we face (Hebrews 4:12). God's word provides us direction for our lives ...step by step, day by day (Psalm 119:105). Perhaps the most important thing God's word can teach us, is about Jesus Christ, and salvation through believing in him (2 Timothy 3:15). Jesus told us that God will speak to us directly through his word, by his Holy Spirit, which quickens to our mind the things God wants us to hear (John 14:26). God is speaking to you now, read his word and learn to listen. |
