One of the best known stories of the Bible is the story of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). We find a beautiful garden, created by God himself, occupied by the first two human beings Adam & Eve. God tells them they can eat of any tree in the Garden except of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The serpent beguiles Eve into eating of the tree, and then Adam eats. When confronted by God, as they cower ashamed of their nakedness, Adam & Eve confess to eating the forbidden fruit. God then outlines the consequences of their disobedience, and to Eve he says "I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children. " |
What God is doing, is outlining the consequences of sin to mankind. God is not pronouncing a curse on Adam and Eve, but rather explaining to them what they have brought on by disobeying God. Even today, we reap the consequences of our sin. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ our savior. Jesus tells us that if we confess our sins, he always forgives them and cleanses us of wrong doings (1 John 1:9). If you trust Jesus as your savior, you are an adopted child of God (Romans 8:14-15). As believers in Jesus, we ask of him prayers and supplications giving thanks to our Lord Jesus who cleanses us from our sin, and he brings us a peace which passes all understanding and he guards our minds and our hearts (Philippians 4:6-7). |
It is that peace which has enabled many women of many generations to bear children naturally, rejoicing at the miracle of birth. On the contrary women who fear childbirth are subjected to endless hours of painful labor, and much suffering. The Bible tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Natural childbirth experts, such as Dr. Robert Bradley, teach that God has equipped a woman to give birth naturally, and in most cases without drugs, with a minimal of pain, and much joy! Although, for the most part, childbirth education has been corrupted by New Age relaxation methods, which are ungodly, Christ based childbirth education is becoming more widely available. |
