God is spirit, and we are flesh and bones. Often we struggle with this difference in our daily lives. How can we believe in something we cannot see? God knows us. He created us from the dust into flesh and bones, then He breathed life into us by His spirit (Genesis 2:7). It is by our God breathed spirit that we know God. God in His infinite knowledge of us, gave us His word in the physical sense. He knows the trials and tribulations of this life, and provided us with His word to live by. One might ask, how can this be so? |
The book of Acts is a continuation of the life of Jesus after His resurrection. In the book of Acts, Jesus introduces His disciples to the Holy Spirit which will make the disciples witnesses of Jesus (Acts 1:8). The disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31). The remainder of the new testament is composed of letters written by those disciples who were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with Boldness. The Apostle Paul authored a good many of those letters. In his letter to the Galatian Church, the Apostle Paul said: "But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." (Galatians 1:11-12). The final book of the Bible, called Revelations, was a letter from the Apostle John to the church. In the book of revelation John shares the words which Jesus showed him by the spirit (Revelation 21:5). |
The Holy Bible is God's word, which He has given is out of His love and compassion for us. Jesus said in Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away". God's word is just as relevant as it was when it was written. In our free-for-all generation, many have decided that the Bible is not relevant. Jesus said in Mark 8:38 that: "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." Clearly, we should be sorry for our dis-respect of the Bible, and treat God's Word with reverence. We should ask if we are ready for the return of Jesus, Jesus will determine who is rewarded with eternal life and who is rewarded with eternal damnation. |
